So another year begins; and so another blog starts. My name is Charissa. I am 20 years old, in my 3rd year of a combined biology psychology major. Yes, I am one of those people that want to go to medical school. Yes, I am going crazy. Nutso. Insane. Coocoo. Loony. Whatever the word you want to use to describe a stressed out med-school want-to-be who is dying to hear back from med schools. And this is only the interviews.
The point of this is not to bore you of my sob story of lack of social life and amplifying health (physical of course, not mental... not mental...?) The point is, I'm tired, stressed out and just want to cook! I am still striving for med school but I've decided I will bake and cook along the way. A girl's gotta eat after all. Living away from home has left me eating pots of soup for over a week and cheese, crackers and fruit for dinner way too many times. Or better yet, my fav: peanut butter right out of the jar.
Thus... this grand new year. 2012. I will cook more. I love to cook and bake and eat. If I didn't exercise, I would be a 200 pound at 5 foot nothing girl. Seriously, 5 foot nothing. This past holiday season allowed me to rediscover my love for cooking. I made the entire Christmas dinner, the turkey, dessert and all (with the fantastic help of my parents of course). I also made a pumpkin cake roll and pseudo-black forest cake roll (used strawberry jam instead of cherry filling). Maybe not every thing turned out amazing, but I must say, my food is pretty damn good.
I think I have blabbered on enough. This year, I will try my best to cook or bake something a university student won't tend to. Well, not me anyway. Something special, and yummy. Whether that is zucchini fries, or flaming strawberry cupcakes. It will be something that lets me forget about my stress and indulge myself in the spectacular world of cooking and food.
Cheers to a happy new year and happy blogging!
